Only a few cake shops like Sosoaga remain in the world today. Apart from using the original recipes to produce excellent baked goods, this one-hundred-and-fifty-year-old institution is also credited with creating the first Goxua, the legendary dessert of Vitoria which consists of a layer of whipped cream covered with some rum-soaked cake followed by a layer of custard with some caramel on top. Other specialities include their 'chuchitos' or petits choux, cream horns, and the Alavesico range of wine, Txakoli, Patxaran, cheese and rum-flavoured chocolates.
