If you haven't heard of the delicious Confituras Goya truffles or 'Vasquitos y Nesquitas', you definitely weren't born in Vitoria. Founded as a humble bakery selling cakes and candles, nowadays Confituras Goya is an undisputed symbol of the city. While Goya is best-known for painted tins of prettily wrapped chocolates, other favourites include 'turrón' (an almond sweetmeat traditionally eaten at Christmas), jams, and cocoa praline and violet-flavoured lolly-pops. More than sweets, they are symbols of the city.
